The setting is -- you guessed it -- a Monopoly board, with Mr. Monopoly as the host. Players choose from traditional Monopoly tokens (like the top hat, racecar, and even the thimble that no one ever seemed to want as their play piece), select their starting bankroll, and are then sent to the main Monopoly board screen -- the Casino Floor. Players choose their game from the different gaming tables and machines available.
The main game choices are: roulette, craps, video poker, money wheel, pai gow poker, keno, blackjack, slot machines (including Chairman of the Board, Once Around, and Reel Estate), and poker. There are variations on the traditional games available. For example, Roulette includes a standard and Monopoly version. In the Monopoly variation, the numbers on the betting layout are replaced by properties found on the Monopoly gameboard.
Network play is an option, and can be brought about through the free MSN Gaming Zone service.
The Monopoly theme is fun -- you can even get sent to jail, though you won't collect $200! Most casino simulations are designed with true gambling fans in mind, with very little entertainment beyond the games themselves. Monopoly Casino has enhanced entertainment value with its animations and themes, and never comes across in an overpowering or excessive way. The games are as addictive as one would expect from Vegas-style gambling simulations.
